About Core4Maths

Core 4 Maths is ‘A Way” of supporting learners on their Maths journey, to support teachers, parents,  gain a better understanding of the Maths curriculum in the Core 4 Maths context.

CORE 4 MATHS is about programming, skills, outcomes, assessments, and examples based around what I call Core 4 Maths, that is:

  1. Counting
  2. Place Value
  3. Addition is Subtraction
  4. Multiplication is Division

CORE 4 MATHS shares a range of ideas and strategies to support best practices in teaching and learning mathematics. Formats and strategies provided are intended as a resource for all teachers, parents, tutors and students. They are in no way prescriptive, but are rather, suggestions that can be adapted and/or reformatted to suit individual styles of programming, assessment, teaching and learning.

CORE 4 MATHS identifies student learning outcomes for Mathematics. It provides a common base for curriculum expectations within the specific learning outcomes of the mathematics key learning area. CORE 4 MATHS aims to provide information on this website that will be based on my own experiences, I am certainly not an expert, however, I find it helps me when I share my own ideas and thoughts. I like getting clear in my own mind about what is essential and core knowledge.

CORE 4 MATHS uses levels to track student growth, each level is designed to meet the needs of the learner and develop the confidence to expand and grow consistently.
